About the Role: We are seeking a driven, hands-on and experienced professional to join our team in the position of Client Protection (Compliance) & Legal Manager. This role requires the combination of expertise in compliance and operational risk assessment, proficient team management skills, and effective collaboration across functions and business units. In this role, you will act as the local point of contact and representative of the Legal and Compliance Team in the Americas and will have ownership of processes and operations pertaining to legal and compliance activities. You will also be responsible for handling internal legal cases, and therefore it is essential to have practical knowledge in the relevant areas of corporate and labor law. You will also be responsible for managing compliance matters, providing consultation to stakeholders regarding legal and compliance trends and recommending necessary actions to mitigate risks. The ideal candidate will have great communication skills, with a strong ability to coach and mentor young professionals on compliance and legal matters. Understanding of risk management and compliance practices, including risk monitoring activities, is considered essential for this role. Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the central point of contact for local stakeholders in the Americas and act as the contact person for handling local compliance matters. This role entails representing the team both horizontally and vertically across various fora, reporting the performance of the local team to the management and offering guidance to management on enhancing compliance culture.
  • Collaborate with the global CP & Legal Department to support them in the active further development of the compliance management system, the expansion of the compliance across the organization, the identification and implementation of new compliance priorities and the development of the compliance culture.
  • Report to the CP Head of Operations to conduct capacity planning for headcount requirements and budget monitoring on a local level. Work closely with the CP & Legal Director for legal, management and strategic priorities of the local team.
  • Supervise and manage a team of young and experienced professionals. Introduce specific performance KPIs and growth objectives to meet the company standards. Discuss the individual and collective performance of the team with the CP Head of Operations to identify additional opportunities for growth and development.
  • Mentor and coach the local CP & Legal team on various aspects, including global and regional laws and regulations, business growth and strategy, risk management, and operational excellence.  
  • Communicate constantly with the CP Head of Operations, with the objective of achieving global coordination in daily operations and enhancing operational efficiency. Provide recommendations for tools and techniques to optimize existing procedures.
  • Handle and streamline corporate law and labor law cases internally.
  • Collaborate with the global CP and Legal Management Team, assessing how the local team can bring value to the global strategic priorities of the company. Regular contact with them on (joint) projects and initiatives, e.g. global and local training sessions, monitoring and process optimization, technological improvements and innovations.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration to leverage technology and automation to improve quality and overall effectiveness of business delivered.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders across different departments to accomplish strategic objectives.
  • Develop further the various compliance communication channels. This includes announcements of updates and initiatives, as well as reporting and policy obligations across the organization.
  • Coordinate the local training curriculum and ensure that the CP & Legal Team provides comprehensive learning opportunities to employees across all offices, focusing on compliance-related matters and policies. 
  • Restructure and update the existing company policies and regulations and support the revision, publication and implementation of organization-wide guidelines.
  • Degree in the areas of Law, Compliance, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management.
  • 5+ Years of work experience as a People Manager in an international context, particularly in a multi-unit business.
  • Hands-on experience in compliance, operations, risk management, and/or internal/external audits.
  • Extensive experience in team management, with a particular focus on global environments.
  • Legal experience, with specialization in corporate and/ or labor law, will be a plus.
  • Confidence in interaction with other functions/clients and flexibility operating in a fast-paced environment
  • Emotional intelligence with an ability to develop solid relationships across the organization.
  • Great analytical skills, ability to identify issues, quickly assess the risk and suggest a course of action.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and being assertive at all levels and a valued contact person as a team player.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, including navigating difficult situations, negotiating timelines, and influencing internal and external stakeholders across organizations and borders.
  • Strong written, oral and presentation skills in English.
